VILT Hawk’s Rest Sanctuary Volunteer Training
The Challenge
:
Equip volunteers with strategies to provide sanctuary visitors with a positive, informative experience. The role has high turnover and most volunteers have little prior public speaking experience — a concise, confidence-building session was needed.
My Approach:
VILT was selected for its social element, given participants would soon be working together. The PowerPoint is visually clean with minimal text per slide, supported by a workbook. Break-out rooms allowed safe practice of new skills with peer feedback built in. A Zoom poll knowledge check was preferred over a pass/fail quiz, as participants are intrinsically motivated volunteers.
